Lost & Found

Lost & Found

A good friend of mine entrusted in me to design an eBook cover for him. The book is called Lost and Found. It's about a friendship born of monsters, comics, candy, and kinship, Joe and Pino are trying to keep their heart of adventure from being eviscerated by the surreal and frightening maw that is junior high school.

Into their lives are thrust two girls, sarcastic, Jean, feisty with a cutting wit and Val, a nearly six foot teenager whose height is only less towering than her intellect.

While exploring the complex sewer chambers under their town, they discover that the legend that has been haunting their town for two decades has a name. And as they begin to unravel the whys of stolen mail, disappearing sons, and banshee cries, their own lives are threatened. But it is their compassion, as well as their wits, that forge them through fear and the unknown, opening up the chambers of a long mystery that threatens to split apart their hometown.

Ripe with humor, action and heart, Lost & Found reminds us of what it truly means to come home.

Mesa Verde

Mesa Verde

Back in college, I did a guache painting of this lady without any additional detail. I was never inspired to finish it, so I decided to revamp it in pen and ink and added the location scene.

Wedding Photo

I dontated my services for a MOPS raffle. As it turned out, a friend of mine drew the winning ticket. She requested that I draw her daughter and new son-in-law. I was a bit nervous. It gets a bit tricky drawing family members--making sure they resemble the real thing. This drawing is the finished product

Washington State Series

This is one of a series of illustrations depicting locations throughout the state of Washington that represent locations that made an impression at stages in my life. They are done in pointillism with a Micron archival ink pen.

Oklahoma

Oklahoma

My best friend and his family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma. I make it a point to go visit regularly. During one visit we took a day trip east toward Atlas, along State Route 62. I was captivated by this vacated stone home, indicative of the type of style and material homes were built back in the days of early settlers.

Valle Nacional

Valle Nacionale

This illustration is a revised version of a drawing I did in college. The assignment was to design a bird. I chose the Toucan. Years later I took a trip to the Yucatan. I revised the drawing to reflect that trip. As I was driving with a friend through a green, tropical valley, I saw my first toucan fly across the road in front of our rented car.

I took a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico to visit a good buddy of mine who was schooling there for a year. While there he lived outside of Oaxaca, in a town named Mitla. This is a drawing of the Catholic church in that town.

A Porch in San Francisco

This the first large pen and ink drawing. I was intimidated by the size, so I chose a large-nibbed pen.

Santa for Christmas Card

Santa for a personal Christmas Card

This illustration was done for my personal Christmas card in 2003. It's a slight plagerism in that the santa is from an old illustration done in a different style. I added my own style and personality to it.

Russell Investments Holiday Card

Russell Investments Holiday Card

These six illustrations represent each of Russell's international offices. It was especially important to the company during the end of the 90's to include the other offices in their publications. The Holiday card was no exception.

I love letter form. This is one of many doodles I've done designing around a specific letter. The letter "S" is one of my favorites.

Zulu Nyala

Zulu Nyala

I took a trip to South Africa a couple of years ago and was inspired to doodle during my down times. This is one of three illustrations I did with a ballpoint pen I grabbed from the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco. It's turned out to be one of my favorite doodle pens. Good thing I grabbed a few of them!
